PLANTAMERICA was founded in 1995 by Rick Webel, managing partner of Innocenti and Webel– Landscape Architects, Architects & Strategic Planners.

The founder’s vision was to employ technology to help green industry organizations better communicate with customers, suppliers, peers, and the public while preserving the relationships, traditions, and practices that form the unique culture of the industry.

The company quickly became a key resource for horticulture, landscape design, garden center, and educational professionals by providing the source of essential CD-based plant references based on the works of Dr. Michael Dirr and Dr. Allan Armitage.

In July 2000, PLANTAMERICA made a strategic decision to expand its management team and resource base to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities created by technological innovations and increasing affordability of Internet-based solutions. 

The company’s mission is to help green industry businesses take advantage of technology through affordable Web-based tools that help them work more efficiently, increase sales, and build customer loyalty.
