PlantAmerica – Hybrid Tea Roses

Product Description:HYBRID TEA

An important specimen in the history of the rose, ‘La France’ is considered the first hybrid tea. Thought to be a cross between the hybrid perpetual ‘Madame Victor Verrdier’, and the tea rose ‘Madame Bravy’, it acquired hardyness and vigor from the former, and a refined shape and free-flowering habit from the latter. The silvery pink blooms are moderately scented. Though ‘La France’ was introduced in 1867, hybrid teas were not recognized in France until 1884. It took another 15 years for England’s National Rose Society to sanction the exhibition of hybrid teas as a unique class. Ours is the genuine ‘La France’–acquired directly from Guillot in France. Blooms repeatedly. Hardy zones 4-9. Grows to 4’h x 4’w. Bare root.
